The 3Doodler contains a mains-powered electric heater that melts plastic which then cools as it comes out of the end of the pen like a cake-icer.

Working in a similar way to 3D printers, the pen allows a practised user to produce sophisticated three-dimensional shapes.

Everyone can enjoy the new experience of writing and drawing in 3D. Once plugged into the mains, the LED light comes on in red and the pen is preheating. The pen is ready for use when the LED light turns blue. Do not touch the nozzle as it is very hot and you will get burnt if you touch it. This 3D Printer Pen has two speed settings (+/-) which allow you to control the speed of extrusion while you are drawing. The two buttons on the lower part of the pen are the extrude button and the withdraw button. Press the Extrude button to start extruding the filament out of the nozzle. Press the Reverse button to either stop the extrusion immediately or retract the filament in order to change to another filament colour. Please remember to unplug the power cable when not in use. If the pen is not used for 15 minutes, it will automatically cool down.

The 3D Printer Pen comes with:

  • 1 x 3D Printer Pen
  • 2 x bundles of plastic 1.75mm filament
  • 1 x Power supply
  • Templates that can be downloaded and printed on standard bond paper

What can you do with the 3D Printer Pen

Draw a template with a regular pen, or download a template and print on standard bond paper or other materials. Then trace over the template and add some 3D touches to it. The Pen simply melts the plastic and it sticks to the paper. Then you can slide off the pinted part. Try drawing onto fabrics, woods, glass etc.

Suitable for ages 12+
